MAP OF ANCIENT ROME: AN HELPFUL TOOL WHEN PEOPLE TOUR IN ROME

In my free resources at disposal of who loves the ancient Rome, I provided a map of ancient Rome with some numbers related to specific monuments.
Over the course of a thousand years, from 753 BC to 476 AD, the Romans rose from being a humble farming people to becoming the conquerors of the mediterranean world. Their accomplishments in engineering, politics and the military arts, as well their influence on the development of religion, changed the civilized world.
The roman empire was one of the most magnificent times of achievement in world history.

Why we should care today about this long-ago civilization?

One reason is to admire and learn from what the Romans were able to achieve. But perhaps more importantly, we should care because Roman civilization has had profound effects on life today.

The Roman system of government has influenced the development of governments around the world, including US.

It was through Rome's empire that Christianity spread to become the important world religion it is today. And the roman vision of a world united as one people is one that we still hunger for today.
Rather than celebrate their mastery of the world in a song, the Romans tended to visualize it, and the representations that they produced acted as beginning for a political and philosofical investigation.
The Romans pictured the geographical sweep of their empire with the help of a sketched representation of space that gave them an intellectual grasp of the world that surrounded them ( pictura triumphalis ). When triumphs engulfed the city, behind the parading chariots and lines of men loaded with loot, and behind the columns of prisoners, marched soldiers bearing placards listed the victories and conquests. Some of these placards displayed the names of the towns and mountains and rivers that had been conquered.
These maps served to give for to the roman power and once the triumph was over, the maps were reproduced and painted on the walls of the temples.

The maquette you see in this picture is coming from the museum of the Roman civilization, located in the EUR district of Rome and can be used as map to understand the major monuments of the ancient Rome:
