HOTELS OF ROME: USEFUL RECOMMENDATIONS WHILE TRAVELING TO ITALY

The hotel accommodation of Rome has been enlarged and improved in recent years: new hotels have been built in the upper part of the town, and the older hotels have been redecorated and re- arranged. The Eternal city is now in a position to welcome visitors of all kinds, and in large numbers.

When you arrive in Rome the room is your new friend: you open all the drawers, turn all the lights on and off, play with faucets and begin a new relationship.

Most of the hotels in Rome serve a continental breakfast consisting of a roll, butter, jam, and coffee, tea, or chocolate. Many three- star hotels in Rome now offer a wonderful breakfast buffet with cereals yougurt, meat, cheese and fruit added to the basic continental offering.
Sometimes, believe me, the buffet may be worth the price if you plan to skip lunch. All the hotels of Rome has employees speaking english. If you can dust off a few italian phrases, smile, and display goodwill, you will find that the hotel staff will probably be warm and friendly and go out of their way to serve you.

A brief summary at the end of each hotel listing tells what facilities and services the hotel offers. Generally, the more facilities, the more money you will spend. Also note that, particularly in Venice, elevators are not always available, even in nicer hotels, so expect to encounter some stairs while in Italy.
