THE HOTELS OF ROME AND THEIR FEATURES |
In the last years, a growing number of exceptionally nice, small boutique Rome hotels, called " Bed and breakfast " opted not to partecipate in the star system at all because a no star ranking is automatically given to any hotel under ten rooms. In general a no star hotel is quite basic though even here there are exceptions.
A one star hotel of Rome has minimum facilities and seldom an elevator. Two stars means a comfortable room with a telephone, but not necessarily an elevator or private bathroom. Three stars usually guarantees a private bathroom, a color television, possibly air conditioning, maybe a room safe, and perhaps an elevator.
A four stars hotel has mos luxuries you need, including a lift and usually a uniformed staff and a restaurant.
A five star deluxe hotel in Rome is a slice of heaven on earth with a view to match, like suite rooms oriented towards Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.
More and more hotels in Rome are plugging into cyberspace and many rooms have already the internet connection: this is a good and helpful service in case of lack of informations and when people need to book last minute performances or flights to the other european capitals
People is often asking me, " when it is considered low or high season in Rome, do I need to book in advance or not ? " My answer is absolutely yes, no matter how long or short your stay in Rome is, or time of the year. It is not unusual for hotels in the central parts of the big cities like Rome to be fully booked even if in the off season. Unless you do not mind spending major portions of vacation time securing hotel accommodations, taking chances on a cancellation, paying more than your budget allows, or staying on the fringes and commuting from Rome airports into tourist central, reservations at the hotels in Rome are essential.
