WHAT PEOPLE IS LOOKING FOR WHEN THEY ENTER ROME SEARCH TERMS |
I think that this page will be helpful to me and to the people coming to Rome because I’d like to explain here some search terms that people entered in the search engines like Google when they are preparing their trip to Italy.
Instead of writing the famous page with FAQ ( frequent answered questions ) that not always accomplishes the goal of a real information, I prefer to explain and sometimes correct the researched terms about Rome that people submit to the search engines.
The following words were typed by the people who came through my website in the last months:
Researched term: “ private guided tours of Rome”.
Answer: “ yes, I only organize private tours of Rome for individual or small groups of maximum 10 persons without mixing the customers coming from different hotels. In few words, people traveling with me to discover the main monuments of Rome know already each other”.
Researched term: “ renaissance pope sculptures vatican”.
Answer:” I think that here there is a lot to say, but I only would like to explain that , for me, the most important renaissance sculpture that Rome has, is located in the Vatican and exactly in saint Peters basilica. This statue was carved by Michelangelo in the year 1498 at the age of 24 years old and is the famous Pieta. This statue is also well known to the specialists as it was the only work that contains the signature of Michelangelo in latin language. The reason why Michelangelo signed this work is because he wanted to show that, in a period in which the artists were more paid for restoring the roman and greek statues than for doing a new one, this work came from his hands and not from the digs of the soil of Rome”.

Researched term:” Roman catacombs appian way tours”
Answer:“ yes, I organize tours to the Christian catacombs of Rome and I always recommend to my customers to hire a minibus with driver and a tour guide to visit this historical area of Rome that is outside of the roman city walls and needs, to be successful, a good private transportation”.
Researched term: “ Roman senate Map”
Answer:” Actually we did not have a real map of the Roman senate that is located in the Roman Forum but only some marble fragments of the Roman map called “ Forma Urbis Severiana” . To well understand how Rome was during the ancient times, I recommend the visit of the museum of the roman civilization located in the western district of Rome called EUR. The image of the senate we have today pertains to its last reconstruction during the fire of the 283 AD when the emperor Diocletian was ruling”.
Researched term:” Where Julius Caesar’s house was located in ancient Rome?”
Answer:” this is really a very interesting question. In fact we know that Julius Caesar was born in the district called Suburra, on the eastern side of the Roman Forum, between the Forum of Nerva and the Esquiline hill, that corresponds today to Via Cavour. When he became life dictator and he ended the conquest of France, he used part of the plunder to build his new residence that was located between the Spanish Steps and Via Veneto".
Researched term:”Rome hill plebeians”
Answer:" the hill were the plebeians lived was the Aventine at the bottom of which the Etruscan king Tarquin Priscus built in the VI century BC the biggest stadium of the ancient world: the Circus Maximus. The Aventine hill guested also the temple of Diana and today the Aventine has important embassies like the US embassy to the Vatican. Where many centuries ago the plebeians lived and made the secession war against the patricians in the V century AD, now expensive buildings are standing to make the Aventine one the most beautiful districts of Rome”.
Researched term:” What to wear for Vatican city”
Answer: "The Vatican has a dress code that means people do not need to wear ties or to be elegant. It’s enough to wear long pants for men and long skirts or long pants for women. Even if it’s hot in July and August in Rome, it’s requested to wear shirts that allow you to have the shoulders covered”.
Researched term:” Rivers in Rome”:
Answer: " Actually there is only one river in Rome and this is the Tiber river. The tiber is also the third longest river of Italy after the Po and the Adige and I often consider the Tiber as the first and oldest road of Rome ( older than the Appian way ), because it was cheaper and faster for the Romans and the Etruscans to bring to the city large quantities of wine, oil, food products and also bricks and marble blocks from the quarries of Italy and from the provinces located in the Mediterranean sea.
So, as you can see, I am glad to follow the wishes of my readers and, instead of writing useless blogs with tons of repetitive words, I will update often this page after that you ,in search of more resources about Rome, came to my web site.
